Distinguished Unit Citations:
30 July 1943 For action over Sardinia, using diversionary tactics, the group forced enemy aircraft into the air, and destroyed over half of them. Pilots were credited with a total of 21 victories on this mission.
30 January 1944 Group flew very low altitude (on the deck at fifty feet) up the Adriatic, over 300 miles, and surprised enemy fighters defending German airdromes, in the Villaorba/Udine area. Pilots were credited with a total of 37 victories.
